How To Apply For the Canada Greener Homes Loan:
1. Apply for the Canada Greener Homes Grant first
Check your eligibility and submit an application to the Canada Greener Homes Grant. In order to apply for the loan, you must be eligible for the grant first.
2. Obtain a free solar quote with us
By completing an initial solar assessment and preliminary quote, we can tell you if your home is suitable for solar before you book an EnerGuide evaluation.
3. Schedule pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation
Once we’ve completed your solar assessment and provided you with a quote, we will introduce you to independent energy advisors we work with such as Energuy or Energy Werx to schedule your EnerGuide evaluation. They will evaluate your home and make recommendations on how to make your home more energy efficient.
4. Apply for the 10-year interest-free loan
Your energy advisor will submit the EnerGuide Label report for the grant and you will be notified via email once it is accepted by NRCAN. To apply for the loan, you will need to upload the following documentation in the grant portal:
- – Property tax bill
- – Copy of driver’s license
- – Pay slip or T4 slip
- – Up to 3 quotes from contractors
5. Install solar PV system once loan is approved
You can access up to 15% of loan funds to pay for upfront costs such as your system deposit. The balance of your loan will be disbursed within 10 days after you have:
- – Installed solar PV system
- – Completed Post-Retrofit Evaluation
- – Uploaded final invoice in the portal
