Utility-Scale Case Studies

Project:

SADDLEBROOK SOLAR

Project Details:

101.0MWp / 81MWac
185,286 solar panels
25 inverters
325 DC combiners
18,141 helical piles

Saddlebrook is an AltaLink transmission connected solar PV, battery storage (phase 2), and substation project. Located along the Highwood River, this project had extensive environmental protection requirements including leopard frogs, red tail hawk, bank swallows, and key wildlife biodiversity zone.

The 18,141 helical pile foundations were made up of 4 different pile types and had an obstruction refusal rate of 11%. 100 km of FlexRack 25 degree fixed-tilt racking was used to secure 185,276 modules.

Phase 2 of the project is comprised of a flow battery energy storage system which has not started construction.
