Project:

Canadian Blood Services

Project Details:

Canadian Blood Services is a national nonprofit managing Canada’s blood supply. Its new 14,214 square meter Calgary facility supports health services across Western Canada with advanced technology for blood processing and storage, requiring a reliable energy solution.

Challenges:
The facility required a sustainable energy system to handle high power demands while accommodating complex infrastructure. Working alongside the schedules of Canem Systems and Bird Construction, we ensured seamless integration of a large-scale solar array with the existing mechanical and electrical systems, overcoming a critical challenge.

Solution:
SkyFire Energy installed a 551 kW solar PV system with 1,597 panels on the facility’s roof. As the largest flat roof installation in Calgary, the system was designed to optimize energy production and meet strict standards, integrating smoothly with backup power systems.

Results:
SkyFire Energy completed the project efficiently, surpassing renewable energy goals with 15% of the facility’s energy needs. The system reduced energy costs and emissions, positioning the building for potential LEED Platinum certification while demonstrating SkyFire Energy’s expertise in complex installations.
