Discovery House provides a continuum of care to women and their children fleeing domestic violence, offering transitional housing and longer-term safe places to call home while families begin to rebuild their lives. With a focus on addressing childhood trauma to break the cycle of abuse, they provide counselling, financial empowerment, safety planning, housing support, and programs for children and youth. Founded in 1980 and operating out of Calgary, they served 417 people in their most recent fiscal year, with 85 cents of every donated dollar going directly to their programs.
